Pilgrimage

On the 4th day of the mission, we will also make a special pilgrimage to Yim
Tin Tsai in Sai Kung, once home to St. Joseph Freinademetz, the first SVD
missionary to China.

Though born in Southern Tyrol, which at the time belonged to the
Austrian-Hungarian Empire, St. Joseph made Hong Kong his base of
mission.

On Yim Tin Tsai, he lived among the villagers, learned their language and
culture, and served them with humility and love. He is remembered for his
deep conviction that “The language that all people understand is that of love.”

Walking in his footsteps on Yim Tin Tsai is more than visiting a historic site—
it is entering into the missionary heart of the Church, where faith and
service meet the struggles of daily life.

This small island, with its chapel dedicated to St. Joseph and its restored
village, is now a UNESCO-recognized cultural site. For us, it is also holy
ground, where missionaries once carried the Gospel to distant shores and
where we renew our own missionary call.

On the final day, we will also gather at the Cathedral of the Immaculate
Conception on Hong Kong Island. There, before Our Lady, we will entrust
the people of Hong Kong, our mission, and all the petitions we bring from

home.

During the pilgrimage, we will:

  • Offer thanksgiving prayers for the success of our mission.

  • Present sealed petitions to Our Blessed Mother, seeking her intercession for healing, reconciliation, financial difficulties, and other needs.

  • Pray for our friends in Hong Kong and our loved ones back home.

Flights

Airfare is not included and is currently at S$282 for a return ticket without check-in baggage.

Unless you wish to shop in Hong Kong and have lots of things to bring back,
I would recommend that you only select 20 kg check-in baggage from SG to
Hong Kong and use a collapsible luggage to help transport the donations.

When it's empty, you can fold your luggage into your cabin luggage and save some cost there.

Collapsible Travel Bag

You can purchase one of these Expandable Luggage from any e-commerce platform. They cost around S$20 and can be

folded into your carry-on luggage after the Mission.

Please book your flights as soon as possible to enjoy lower fares.

Feel free to book your flight on any airline of your choice but try to match the following timings.

Once booked, please send me your flight details directly for coordination.

Packing for Donations

Please reserve at least 15 kg of baggage allowance to help carry donated items.

We aim to bring:

Preloved items in excellent condition, new or like-new items,

such as:

  1. Clothing, especially winter clothing.

  2. Musical instruments, toys.

  3. Board games like Chess sets

   4. School stationery and supplies, school bags

   5. Art supplies and materials

If you have any of these or other items you think might

be suitable, please private message me with photos. Our

Gifts Team will review and confirm what to bring.

To respect the dignity of the community, please ensure that

they are in good condition e.g. no stains, tears, missing parts, screws, requiring batteries, very old, very formal, very used, notebooks that are partly written, unwashed clothing. As a guide ... not something we would not use ourselves. Thank you for your donations. 🙏

What’s Next
  • I’ll share updates and the mission itinerary as we get closer to departure.

  • We will ensure the itinerary is inclusive for everyone, including any non-Christian participants, children or elderly joining us.

This mission is more than a trip; it’s a chance to bring hope and joy to those in need while building unforgettable memories together.

Let’s prepare our hearts, minds, and suitcases for this meaningful journey!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. We’re here to support each other every step of the way.

Looking forward to embarking on this mission with all of you!

God Bless,
