Port Bell Academy is a non-profit organization registered with the Association for the Promotion of Women. Their mission is to contribute to the education and development of Cameroonian girls and women, promote the social advancement of women, and support families in their educational responsibilities. The academy has a visionary goal of establishing an IT and Ethics Training Centre, sowing the seeds of a well-grounded digital society to empower girls and women in Douala and Cameroon.
Our project focuses on the installation of amphibious retrofits, an innovative enhancement of the traditional practice of elevating houses on stilts. This initiative is in response to the annual flooding cycle experienced in specific geographic locations. Pontes is an NGO composed of active young women who view personal development as an opportunity to contribute to society. Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, many women, some with children, have sought refuge in Poland for safety. Pontes has taken in some of these families as refugees and is providing them with support. One of the challenges they've encountered is the limited access to Ukrainian language materials since their evacuation.
